Full Time Radio Promotions Manager – Athens, Georgia

Job Description: The Promotions Manager is responsible for coordinating the branding, promotion, and marketing of Cox Medial Group Athens’ radio stations and clients’ businesses.  Responsibilities include on-air imaging, planning, and coordination of station events, client events and entitlements, and maintaining a high performing promotions team.  Duties include coordination of outside advertising, station remotes, appearance and other events, handouts and premium items, on-air promotions and contesting, working with digital assets, and assisting the sales team in order to satisfy clients and maximize revenue opportunities.

The ideal candidate will be creative and possess strong organizational skills, balance the revenue needs of the stations with the commitment to client satisfaction and product excellence.  Necessary skills include the ability to execute short term tactics with keen attention to detail while seeking opportunities that will advance the long term strategic marketing efforts of the stations.  This position will work closely with the Operations Manager, Program Directors, and sales team and will report to the VP/General Manager.

Mandatory Skills:

Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent experience

3-5 years in mass media

Successful execution of complex events

Successful track record of managing promotions events and teams

Experience hiring, training and supervising a high performance promotions team

Must possess a valid GA driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage

 
Preferred Experience:

A leadership role in marketing or promotions for a radio station or cluster

Involvement in external advertising and marketing campaigns

Database management

Experience with social media

Sales collaboration

With sadness

With great sadness, we relay to you the passing of one of our former graduates,
Mr. Ryan A. Baker.
Ryan was the son of Ms. Deborah Baker, who is responsible for lots of the
delicious dishes prepared in our cafeteria. He was also the drama teacher at both the
Habersham Ninth Grade Academy and Habersham Central High School.
Ryan passed away yesterday after an extended illness.
A memorial service for Ryan is planned for
Thursday, Sept. 6, 3:30pm, at the
Ebenezer Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, Ga.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 - 3:00pm prior to the service.

Congratulations to our Recent Graduates!

Welcome our newest Mass Communications alumni: Elizabeth Farmer, Rebecca Johnson, Katie Justice, Victoria McDonald, Cody Nimmo, Zach Petersen, Michelle Rockey and Michelle Sosia! After a hard semester working on their capstones, these eight seniors walked across the stage on May 5 to receive their diplomas. All eight of these Mass Communications majors worked on their capstone during the spring 2012 semester and covered topics ranging from a revamp of WRFP, the student run radio station, to a look into the life of Lillian E. Smith, a famous author from Clayton, Georgia. After preparing all semester, capstone presentations were held on April 25 and 26 in the Swanson Screening room. These eight seniors ranged from students who had started college at Piedmont, a few transfer students and a student who was graduating a year early. We wish all the students the best of luck in all their future endeavors and can't wait to see where their future careers might take them!

Congratulations to Daniela Guevara ('09)


Daniela Guevara (’09) recently accepted a new position with a great company. She is now a Senior Account Executive at Red F PBC, Inc., an advertising agency based in Charlotte, N.C. She works directly with ROJO, the company’s multi-cultural branch. Over the next few months, Guevara will travel throughout the country, hosting seminars for United Health Care, one of the agency’s clients.

Guevara says, “My background working at radio stations, working for the marketing company in Atlanta, coordinating festivals and events, and working on experiential marketing are exactly what got me the job. I'm very excited about entering the agency world.”

Albany's WFXL-TV is seeking a General Assignment Reporter

WFXL-TV is seeking a General Assignment Reporter. Applicant must have a journalism degree, at least one year experience or a strong internship background. Ability to shoot with Panasonic AVCCAM, DVCPro/Mini-Pro, edit with Vegas 7.0 and knowledge of both linear and non-linear editing is a plus. THIS IS A ONE-MAN-BAND POSITION. Candidate should have strong writing and photography skills. This applicant MUST be a self-starter. We are looking for a reporter with the skills to enterprise stories daily. Job requires using social media to advance your stories and candidate will also be expected to post content on the station’s website.
